The Admissions Process
INQUIRY: A family asks for more information and our Enrollment Coordinator reaches out to talk with the parent/guardian about the school, answer questions, and set up a school tour.
TOUR: Families come see us in person and tour the campus with their child. Virtual tours can be arranged for families who are too far away to visit in person.
CLASSROOM OBSERVATION(Optional) : Adults are welcome to make an additional appointment to visit and observe the classroom for a longer period without their child
APPLICATION: Parents/guardians complete and submit the application for the desired program.
CLASSROOM VISIT (Pre-K to 5th Grade): Swan’s enrollment coordinator works with the family to schedule one or more classroom visits for the child, where the teacher has an opportunity to observe the child in a classroom setting. This is the final step of the application for Pre-K to 5th grade students.
OR
INTERVIEW (Middle School): This is a one-on-one conversation between the prospective student and the learning coach rather than a traditional interview. It is designed to put students at their ease so that both student and coach can get to know each other and begin to build a trusting relationship. This is the final step of the application for Middle School students.
APPLICATION REVIEW: In early spring of each year, an admissions team consisting of the teachers and Head of School reviews pending applications and the classroom visit evaluations. Applications for mid-year enrollment are processed on a rolling basis as they are received.
ACCEPTANCE DECISIONS: As soon as applications have been reviewed, a letter goes out to families notifying them of the admissions decision. A student may be accepted, declined or, in the event that there is no space in the desired classroom, placed on a waiting list.
ENROLLMENT: Once an acceptance letter is received, parents have 10 days to submit the non-refundable enrollment fee of $200 and a signed enrollment contract in order to secure their child’s space.
TRIAL PERIOD: There is a 6-week trial period to confirm that Swan School is the right fit for your child. At any time during this period the family or Swan School can determine that the school and the child are not a good fit. Applicable tuition will be pro-rated and the balance refunded during this period.
